Nick's Thoughts:

Went into this shoot expecting some traditional mission pics. Boy was I wrong! Wesley came equipped with some bold ideas in mind. We were able to pull them all off. His extraverted personality shined in all of these. Not one question of denial came out of this kid.
While Wesley was prepping for the shot with the flag under his shirt, this old lady came over out of curiosity. She was very nice, but Wesley was mid change... fly down, shirt wide open, and hands down his pants. Made for a cute and awkward conversation lol. She thought Knoxville Tennessee was in another country hahahha. We weren't sure what to do.
The making of this cover was absolutely brilliant too. Once I had the vision of superman, it was a given. Took it to Illustrator, watched some youtube, and it all came together after about 2 hours. That superman style graphic "Wesley" really tied this whole shoot together. Very proud of that.

Classy studio pics for the imaginative mind. Don't underestimate studio pics.

Nick's Thoughts:

While planning this shoot, Will shared some inspo on Instagram of a shoot where they played with burning newspapers in their hands. We obviously didn't wanna burn newspapers while indoors, but I still brought a handful of newspaper because you never know.
The funnest part about this shoot was how we had to push our limits. The only thing we knew going into this shoot was that we wanted studio pics of Will in his suit and tie. From there it was up to us to get creative with poses and ideas.
His fit was very fun to capture though. The details of his watch made do for some cool close ups, and his rings were a nice flare of class that tied in so well.

Honestly, probably my favorite shoot yet. This collab goes hard.

Nick's Thoughts:

Thee Deakin Carman 😩
Initially, we had a suit and tie car shoot planned. We were gonna go in his grandpa's garage and make use of the classic cars there. Although, we quickly learned his grandpa didn't even have the cars there at the moment. We had to pivot.
This kid can really do it all. We went from suit and tie to complete street skater. I suggested we use the parking garage for some street vibes, and then he brought the rest. The BMX bike for sure being the star of the show.  I'm honestly disappointed I didn't make him do a bunch of backflips haha.
Deakin will blow your mind with creativity. He doesn't take no for an answer. We were bouncing ideas left and right the whole entire shoot. Even suggesting I get in a few pics with him lmao. Never have I experienced such a freely creative collaboration during a photoshoot.
Rain. It even started raining a little! But that only made Deakin all the more excited 😆 Which to be honest, it made me real excited as well. It's just that usually the clients hate the rain (as they should haha).  We shot for roughly 2 whole hours, ending the night with thousands of pictures. Even after the edits, I ended up returning over 300 stills to this kid. Who woulda thunk!
To this forever memorable photoshoot, I will never forget how you've shaped me. Thank you Deakin ❤️

Nick's Thoughts:

My heart skipped a beat when I got the notification that Miles Simister wanted to collaborate with me. I was so excited to work with such a stud.
I did some exploring and found this abandoned road in the middle of Elberta. It made for the perfect opportunity to make full use of the street. Also worked so incredibly well for some rollers!
Honestly couldn't be happier with how these pictures turned. Miles is the coolest kid - deserving of the coolest pics. Happy to report we did not disapoint.

I freaking love parking garages.

Nick's Thoughts:

Lucy caught me off guard. From the moment she stepped out of her Jeep, I knew I was in for it. With those freakishly tall high heels and short white skirt, Lucy wasn't bouta mess around.
We had talked over our DM chat about what we wanted the shoot to be. I bounced around the idea of a photoshoot with a school desk. She immediately caught on with the vision. We brainstormed a bit more, settling on a sassy photoshoot style, with bright red lipstick also being a staple.
I cannot tell you how much fun this parking garage is. It never disappoints for an urban, modern style. The desk fit right into the scene like a champ. From there, we made use of the space and light surrounding us. Harsh shadows were prominent. And the freaking single light that was on in the bottom of the parking garage. Guys, we didn't use any flash photography. My flashes battery was dead, which ended up being so much cooler. All the photos you see here are purely natural from our environment.
End of the day, Lucy will forever have my mind turning. Collaborating with such a girl like Lucy really allowed me to understand I was capable. Thank you, Lucy. This pics are some of my best work thanks to you.

Shhh... Don't tell anyone!
An evening spent urbexing.

Nick's Thoughts:

Wesley's a real one for these. Getting me of all people to explore an abandoned grocery store is very unlikely. But once he through in the part about taking photos, I was heavily considering.
All I brought was my little LED panel that I found on the clearance rack in Walmart. And turns out, that's really all you need. We went into this "shoot" not really expecting to make a shoot out of it at all. I was thinking maybe a few cool shots here and there, but nah. This proved to be once of the most extravagant explorations of a shoot yet.
The title for this magazine, if you didn't realize already, was heavily inspired by the Pixar animation, WALL-E. His last name gave me perfect opportunity to go for it. The vibes here were totally from a place like WALL-E. This theme wasn't intentional, but...
Once me and Wes got back from our shoot, sat down in my room, and started going through the pics we had just took -  it hit us right in the face. I won't ever forget that strange day. We spent a good couple hours shooting. And our initial peek of these pics on my old gaming laptop was such a memory. Us going "OOOOHH" every single time the next pic hit the screen. What a good time. Glad we didn't get caught.

Nick's Thoughts:

Dang this shoot blew me away. Will came to me through a DM on instagram, wanting some pictures for himself. He knew he wanted some moody pics, but wasn't so sure about how to go about it. Our first idea was to just wander the streets of Provo at dusk and make use of the street light for some dramatic shots. Although, as you can see, that idea never sprung fruition haha.
Then came the true brainstorming. He was feeling a bit stuck on ideas, so I sent him over the list... This list is full of the most random ideas that come to my mind. Many being very ambitious. Sending the list means one of two things - they opt for the casual ideas on there, or they see the potential of some of these visions and send it. Will hit the send button on this one.
So, we had the idea, now we just had to put it into action. I say that like it's easy, but shooting has a lot of pressure on the me, and the model at hand. We pulled into our desired location, and it didn't last long... There was this lady who got so mad we were taking pictures. We were only there for roughly 5 min lmao.
We quickly had to pivot and find another spot. Sometimes things just work out for the better, this being one of them. This car was we went to was absolutely fire. We went absolutely crazy - outdoing our expectations! The quarters went into the machine, and we had just 3 minutes...

Nick's Thoughts:

Delaney messaged me with some big news. She was a junior in highschool, but had just received news that she could graduate with the seniors! A pleasant surprise for sure. She didn't hear the news until a week before graduation, but she still wanted her pics done of course.
She knew exactly what she wanted - light and airy pics done in a spacious field of green. And that is exactly what we did 😤.
With her beautiful smile, this photoshoot was an absolute breeze. The playful prompts pulled it all together with her running and skipping. And the wooden stool fit real nicely into the scene. We then walked over to the old barn building and snapped a few last second extras near the end of her shoot.
There was a slight hint of rain which brought out some beautiful colors in the greenery, and also the red on her red sleeves. Couldn't have asked for better weather tbh. Loved taking these beautiful portraits of Delaney for her surprise graduation!

The perfect mix of creative vs. traditional senior photos.

Nick's Thoughts:

When I say the internet sucks at finding locations, I mean the internet truly sucks for researching photoshoot locations. Truly.
Me and Chance had done some exploring for this spot a week prior. No way in heckkk we woulda found this little train car any other way haha. All you can find online are the basic white girl spots with grass fields and sunsets. Chance is not about to follow the train of a basic Utah white girl (no offense, truly lmao).
Being the best friend of a photographer really has it's perks. Honestly though, I'd be down to hangout and search for locations with anyone. It's a grand old time.
Once me and Chance found this train car, we both immediately started freaking out. Instantly we knew, this was the ticket. The light bounced around through the windows, and the green colors were beautiful. There were some shots also around the outside of the train car, and down around the same street. A wonderful place to explore.
Couldn't be happier with our luck of finding such a neat spot - taking full advantage of it.

Don't worry, we didn't bleach it.

Nick's Thoughts:

Jake said he wanted a buzz cut. I was like, okeeee, if you're gonna cut your hair, let's make a photoshoot out of it! Naturally.
Anything can really turn into a photoshoot. This being a wonderful and creative example. It tells quite the story of Jake deciding and then going through with giving himself a buzzcut. He is now "buzzed" ahaha.
Cleaning up the hair was the hardest part of this shoot lol. Totally worth it though.

It's just Wyatt and his Audi.

Nick's Thoughts:

I freakin love Wyatt. He let me hop right in his car with him - and off we went to go take some pics. A nice drive around the lake and we were set. This Audi TT was such a fun little car to capture. Wyatt just went right along with the entire vision, often times suggesting visions of his own, which was legit.
For this shoot, I stuck with my 1.8 50mm the entire shoot for those crisp looking images. The rollers are always trickiest to get, but the most rewarding when you get it right. The post editing was great too. Went for that more grainy warm look. The blues came out wonderfully in the sky.
Wyatt was persistent about helping with the magazine. Also a good excuse to hangout again haha. So bro came over and helped with it 💪 I loved having his input. This kid is very creative when you can get it out of him. We played music and cruised on the magazine build. This is one I'm very excited to actually hold in my own hands. Thanks for your trust Wyatt.

Nick's Thoughts:

Man oh man. I love when photoshoots blow my expectations out of the water. DC called me up saying he needed pictures for his new album, Daisies. We didn't have much time to plan. At this point, he just wanted something, anything.
He knew he wanted a nostalgic, disposable camera look and feel for his indie vibe. Easy on paper, this was quite the challenge. The lens has a fixed aperture and focal point, also meaning no autofocusing. The range of focus is stuck to roughly one meter in front of the camera. This made for a very different type of photo shoot.
I hopped in his car and we wasted away the day taking so many pictures. His creative mind was very fun collaborate with! We focused on finding flower fields up the canyons. The first half of our day was spend up Payson Canyon, where we shot mid-day with the sun shining high. The last half of our day was during dusk in the open daisy field, where we let the sun go down on us, and we shot some epic pics in the dark with the flash on.
One of the most spontaneous shoots I've ever done. Hope you enjoy the work we created here!

I was absolutely honored to take Taryn's senior photos. Taryn is one of the coolest, most sweetest human beings. This expression shows right through these pictures.
We kept things light and airy, while also bringing out that dreamy feel. What a good shoot!

Nick's Thoughts:

If you didn't know, I will gladly take you up on a trade deal. Kaleb offered me a day with him in the slopes in exchange for some action shots while we go. I mean, how can I say no to a all-expense paid trip to Deer Valley?
I had only done pictures on the slopes once before this. Can confirm it's still kinda sketch carrying a camera around all day lmao. But is it worth it? Always is. Didn't expect to get as many good shots as we did up there. Kaleb knew the mountain well, which helped to.
Honestly though, I didn't know there was a pretty side to Deer Valley. If you guys ever go, be sure to make it to the top where you can ski the other side down. That view... oh my gosh 😭 idk what was up with me, but I sat there for a solid 20 minutes just taking it all in. There was this perfect view in front of me and I couldn't let it go. It was like a sand desert. A perfect little squiqqle line just like the sand does in vast deserts. Not to mention, freaking Timpanogos was visible from the top!
Will forever be grateful for this trip Kaleb took me on. Check out the shots we got! I am def proud of the work done here. And go skiing!!

You got 15 minutes?
Sure.

Nick's Thoughts:

This photoshoot started out of pure boredom. Chance would always come over on a whim - so it was up to us to stay occupied out of spontaniousism. My room was always the hangout spot, so it was naturally the location of this shoot. Besides that, there was really no planning involved. We just passed the camera back and fourth snapping photos. It proved to me you can make any scene turn into an epic photoshoot.
Very grateful for Chance always being up for whatever the heck. After our night shooting, I later decided to put this into a collage for the instagram page. That's where it hit me. If I'm already putting these photos together for an instagram post, why not print it also? It's already laid out and formatted, all I'd have to do is send it off to a print shop.
History in the making... Honestly had no idea what I would be getting myself into after this. Because the images.nick magazines have become a staple to my photography since then. That's wild to say haha. Everything starts from an idea. Some don't end up very far, while other ideas never lose traction.
